‘ello ello’ News update timez...

The Danny Silk animation has unfortunately been forced onto the back burner this month. This is due to my getting a new computer that had some software troubles and kept bloody freezing while I was editing the project.. F)8^ING THING! So that’s another month setback I’m afraid to say, which is frustrating because I think it is far better than the Nutty Joe’s short and I can’t wait for people to see it.

I have placed some of those YouTube windows about this site so you don’t always have to leave when watching one of my animations. This is to make your life a little easier and I get to keep you here longer ... Ha Ha Haaaa (evil cackle) you will be mine.

I’ve also updated the comic novel page, you can now see the pages full screen! There’s the odd other extra hear and there - so glass eyes on screen NOW or you will miss out.

Oh bloody hell .. winters pretty much here now .. boooo . But I’ve added some new links on my (aptly named) links page -HERE- to brighten up those dark approaching evenings. There are a couple of on line comic novels that I recently discovered and a geeks paradise to buy quirky gadgets.

I’ve also uploaded on my YouTube account a selection of stupid animations that me and a friend did using the Simpsons Cartoon Studio. We would sometimes get a little bored while rattling about in our student house, so to pass the time we’d play the crappy game and come up with the most ridiculous short animations. I found them all yesterday and they made me chuckle a little, so I’ve decided to share their creaminess with the world.

Yes I know - I’ve done it again, but I love updating my web site and making it look all new and sparkling.. So give me a brake will ya.

Anyway.. I think it looks much much better than before. What with the cartoon clicky icons and whiteness behind. I am very pleased.

So take a look around - there’s a few new treats about the place as well.. Enjoy !

P.S - If you missed my last post, here’s a reminder that the ‘Danny Silk : Intergalactic Exterminator’ Trailer is now on my YouTube page HERE.

I am very excited because not only is my latest animation ‘Danny Silk : Intergalactic Exterminator’ getting extremely close to it’s completion, but it’s SO close in-fact that there’s a trailer now posted on my YouTube account - HERE - Hope you like x

Near the end of another month - so much happening - but nothing I can show you i’m afraid.

Dan (of OneThirtyEight) has finished the track that i’ll be animating a video for - It is truly eerie to the ears. I am very excited about this project and want it to be the best it can, so i’ll probably be working on this right through and well in to next year!

I am also looking at updating my video equipment for better results. My set up at the moment may be good for small web based viewing, but if I want to enter my future animations in to any festivals - i’d better upgrade.. so this may delay things a little as well.

But not to worry - as the ‘Danny Silk : Intergalactic Exterminator’ project is edging it’s way closer and closer towards it’s completion! It now has a mix of 2D with 3D for the space ship sequences instead of just purely 3D - so this project has a real mix of visual joy.. more to come.

In other news : David Lynch’s fantastically crazy film ‘Inland Empire’ came out on duvada last week. I haven’t purchased my copy yet - but will soon as it’s the sort of film that needs several viewings. Also there’s ‘Sunshine’ out this coming Monday. Might not be everyone’s cup of chow, but if you like Sci-Fi you should check this out.

I have also become Andy Rementer’s newest super fan through his highly addictive cartoons. See what I see HERE at TechnoTuesday. If the link doesn’t work, please try again later as it might just be down for repairs at the mo’.

More sooooon

Ello’s

I am joined up with the Amazon rental thingy and therefore get a few DVD treats a month. I have been reviewing each DVD at Amazon.co.uk and you can read my most recent rant -HERE- I rented The Brothers Quay’s feature film ‘The Piano Tuner of Earthquakes’. I am a big fan of their short stop-motion work, but this was an absolute disappointment.. well read the review to see what I thought.

Hay baby I’m back!!!!

Been a long time and done so much... but not much creative stuff I’m sad to say. I’ve moved to a lovely little flat in Southsea by the common and also started a new job. This has taken up 90% of my time, so there hasn’t been much time for my art.

I went to see Matmos and Cornelius play live at the Royal Festival Hall at the beginning of the month which was amazing.. go see them if you ever get a chance. Here’ a clip of Matmos - Here -

Anywho , more updates soon ..... oh and I’ve moved the Comic Novel page to - Here - as it’s new home. Will maybe put up some more pages sometime soon.

14th June 2007

Another month has past and what has Mr Stevey been up to... ?    COMIC NOVEL !

Yep, I have started work on a comic novel which I’d rather not say anything of the plot yet, but I’m using an idea I originally intended to be an animation. The story would have been very complicated using stop-motion and probably would have taken me a century to complete. So I plan to work on the comic in my spare time between animations and we’ll see how things progress. I’ll put a page on here for you to see shortly..There looking good (if I do say so myself).

Sharif is hard at work on the special effects for ‘Danny Silk : Intergalactic Exterminator’ and It’s coming alive like Frankenstein’s baby - and it weighs 160 pounds!

You may also have noticed (unless this is your first time here) that I have updated this web site’s look (but don’t touch). I felt like having a bit of a change - I hope you like x

If your looking through the old news you may get confused if I’ve said “click on the link at the right of the page” as there are now no longer any there, but the stuffs all still on here - you just gotta search for it.

Until next time . .

I have recently been given some of the Danny Silk music by Ben Norton, and it is bloomin’ brilliant.. I’m so SO excited I thought I’d share a track with you - HERE.

It’s all very slowly coming together.

JS

2nd May 2007

As promised in my last entry (oooh eer) I have added one of my very first animations from 2003. It is very ropey , but I like it because it shows how far I have progressed in the past few years. You can see it here or you can click on the bottom image at the right of this page.

JS

1st May 2007

Pinchy Punch.... It’s been a while - sorry, but have been very busy (but not with the animating I’m afraid to say). I’ll be moving home soon, so I’ve been doing a lot of packing and shit. Place is a bloomin’ mess. Can’t wait to settle down and get cracking again with Sensations of the Seasons.

A big thank you to all who have been messaging me with your interest in my work (old and new), your kind comments mean a lot. I hope I’ve answered all of you.

I’m going to try and post some old old OLD videos of my very early animations. So old infact that I had completely forgotten about them. They really are the first animations I ever made (table top type productions).

I’ll probably put them on here rather than on my YouTube page.

Anyway - keep well and until next time........

15th April 2007

Just a quicky . . . . I’ve put a couple more production shots on the Danny Silk page (follow the picture link on your right) . . . . One is of Danny and his many walking legs - the other gives you an idea of my set up for animating (very ropey).

Oooow Friday the 13th .. spooky shits.

I have just finished my first wire armature model and I am so pleased with it.. I thought I’d put it up on here straight away. Just click on the fuzzy haired man in the pictures on your right.

His name is Unzie and he will appear in the music video i”m working on for OneThirtyEight at the mo’. More to come...

8th April 2007

I went to see the film Sunshine by Director Danny Boyle on Friday evening.

Wow weee - I highly recommend it to anyone into Science Fiction films.. well if your into films I recommend it! It has to be one of the best Sci-Fi films I’ve seen at the cinema in a long long time. So GO SEE.

Anyway .. hoping your having a lovely Easter weekend. I’m spending it by doing as little as humanly possible. YaY.

Talking of hollidays ... Here’s one of the trailers from the upcoming Grindhouse film by Robert Rodriguez and Quentin Tarantino.. It’s a lot of fun ..enjoy.

4th April 2007

Fourth of the fourth .. yummy numbers.

As you may have read in my first blog - I talked about how I’ve just finished the animation for my latest project ‘Danny Silk : Intergalactic Exterminator’.

I also said I hoped to follow this up with another Danny episode.. Well I’ve since realised that tackling this at the same time as doing a video animation for OneThirtyEight (which I’ve been looking forward to for a long time) would be far too much for me to take on at once.. ..So I have decided to put aside the second Danny project for now. We have a great idea for the next Danny film, but it might also be best to wait until the first is completely finished and see how it is received by people before I start another. So I will be cracking on with the OneThirtyEight video titled ‘Sensations of the Season’ for now, then by the time that’s done I’ll have a better idea about what project I wish to do next.

29th March 2007

Another treat for ya .. I was trailing through some of my old tapes when I came across a video that my friend Ben put together. It’s a re-edit of an American advert that I video’d while in Florida several years ago.

You can see it Here and on my My Space page Here. After uploading it to YouTube, I spotted there were several versions of the original adverts .. seems they are quite popular !

JS

27th March 2007

I have just added one of my early animations (see link picture on right at bottom or click here). It’s called ‘Xmass with Shazz’ and it was a present I made for my partner (Sharif) for Christmas of 2005. The animation is rather ropey but I don’t think it’s bad for one of my first attempts. Please leave a comment and rating .. thanX.

Oh and here’s a fun video that a friend sent me the link to. I work out to it every day... Here.

JS

25th March 2007

Hello all .. welcome to my new web thingy .. I’ll be updating this as often as possible, giving you all the latest as it happens. You can also visit my My Space page (here) for more information and messaging fun, or there’s my You Tube page (here) to see my videos and shit. Please do leave any comments, and all questions will be replied/answered.. eventually.

So what’s new? Well you’ve probably seen my first film ‘The Infestation of the Nutty Joe’s’ by now (if not - why not?). The latest film ‘Danny Silk : Intergalactic Exterminator’ is about half way through production. I’ve finished all the animation.. it’s now down to Ben Norton to complete the music and Sharif Salah to work on the Sound Design and Special Effects. I know that I’m the one who does the main part of each animation project, spending hours and hours of my day in a dark room moving little blobs of Plasticine one frame at a time.. BUT my work would be dead without Sharif and Ben’s magic touch bringing it all to life.

I am very pleased with what I’ve done with this project - so pleased in fact that I’m hoping to follow it up with another Danny episode straight away. I love the characters I have created more so than the one’s in the Nutty joe’s film. Danny Silk, Lady Babes and Ship Computer could have many an adventure together in their space craft without me getting tired of them. Having said that - I do have plans for another project titled ‘Creepy Treats’ which I have already started story boarding and will be a nice change from the Sci-Fi theme. More on that at a later time.

As well as all this, I will be animating a music video for a new track by OneThirtyEight. Dan is a long time friend of mine and has always been full of wonderful ideas, so it is a great pleasure to be working with him on this.

So until my next blog thing . . please have a good look around this site and enjoy.
